Sara Spangelo, PhD
Founder

Sara has a background in aerospace engineering, satellite systems, and energy infrastructure. She is Co-Founder and COO of Ambrosia Energy, a startup deploying rapidly built solar-and-battery power plants. Previously, she co-founded and led Swarm Technologies as CEO, launching hundreds of satellites for IoT connectivity before the company was acquired by SpaceX in 2021. At SpaceX, she co-founded and co-led Starlink Mobile, securing recurring telecom partnerships. Sara is from Winnipeg, Manitoba, holds a PhD from the University of Michigan, was previously a systems engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Google X, and was a top-32 finalist in the Canadian Space Agency's astronaut selection. Sara founded Delphine with the ambition to dramatically reduce miscarriage rates, and remains an active philanthropist in women's health.

Beyond the bio

Sara had two miscarriages before her healthy daughter was born. The experience shook her, and what struck her most was how few answers or resources were available when she needed them most. That gap is what led her to found the Delphine Foundation, determined to give other families the clarity and support she couldn't find.

Beyond the bio

Sonya had four miscarriages before her first daughter was born, and three more before her second. Fertility testing turned up nothing either time. Left with theories but no real answers, she is focused on keeping other families out of the same uncertainty.

Sonya Iverson, PhD
Chief of Staff

Sonya approaches our mission from a background in gene therapy, mechanistic molecular biology, and preclinical development. As an early employee at Sana Biotechnology, she designed therapeutic transgenes and engineered lentiviral vectors for gene therapies. At Arbor Biotechnologies, she built the in vivo pharmacology team and led initial safety and efficacy studies for ABO-101, an in vivo CRISPR Cas12i2 gene therapy for Primary Hyperoxaluria Type 1 currently in Phase 1/2 clinical trials. She led R&D at Instance, taking a high-throughput pooled DNA synthesis process from concept to commercialization in under a year. At Delphine, Sonya is developing our Miscarriage Prevention Model, which pulls the epidemiology, genetics, and clinical evidence on pregnancy loss into a single quantitative picture. She also oversees our grantmaking program and builds our resource library for patients, researchers, and clinicians.

We're gathering a network of clinicians, researchers, innovators, donors, non-profit organizations, and investors all driven to reducing loss because the answers come faster when we look for them together.
